EASTER!!

Now that I have a cd of pictures, I can write about them. Last month we had the Utah Mass Ring up in Murray. It is where all of the handbell choirs in Utah get together and play. It was really fun and our whole choir made it up there which was a big feat since we were the newest choir and we were the choir that lived the furthest away from Murray.
We also spent some time with my family in Las Vegas for Spring Break. It was a nice break and we were able to buy new clothes not from Wal-Mart and go out to really good restaurants. It's nice to get out of Cedar sometimes.
We had a great Easter. We woke up to baskets from the Easter Bunny. Then we went to church and were spiritually fulfilled in Primary. After church I took a nap... and then we colored eggs. Next, Glen made his famous potatoes to take to our friend's house for dinner. It was all good food and we had an Easter egg hunt to boot. Then last Saturday I got to help with the Primary Activity Day where we had a really fun egg hunt with all of the kids. They had a fun time trying to find the special eggs which ended up only having rocks inside. Good times!
On a side note I had a layoff scare. Independence University decided to restructure and get rid of my position. We all had to re-apply and have interviews and the whole bit. I thought since I am the only one that works 100% of the time from home, and I have a crazy schedule because of the whole 18 credits at SUU, I would be easy to let go. However, they decided they couldn't get along without me and they rehired me. I am doing the exact same thing only I have a new title. Oh, and my spanish professor asked me to be his grader for next year which will be a little added income and when I say little, I'm pretty sure I mean little. But it will be good to put on my resume for grad school or when I go to teach. I went to talk to another professor about an unrelated matter and she realized I am a very busy person with school and work and was about to ask if I wanted to be her grader when she found out my other professor had already asked. I told her I could do it for both of them but we both decided that would probably not be a good idea. I am going to be even more busy next year than I was this semester. At least it makes time go by faster.
Next semester is Glen's last before he starts student teaching. It's going to be so great when we are both graduated! I never thought it would be possible for me to graduate but my job is so wonderful and flexible that I can work and go to school. I am so very blessed and I know the promises of the law of tithing have been fulfilled tenfold at our house and we couldn't be more grateful. Life is great!

A Promise is a Promise

So awhile back, I promised to post wedding pictures of Caitie and Nate as soon as I got some. Well, she has yet to post the majority and what I have here are selected from the few (and when I say few I mean the literal sense of the word, like 3) that are posted on Facebook.

Isn't she beautiful? Now, I know what you are thinking and no, she is not twelve. I hope this is some kind of incentive to get her to post more pictures since they have been married for almost five months.

It's Official!

Remember this post? Of course you do, it's on this same page. Anywho, Glen went up against the other colleges at the school and we just got this letter today from the President of SUU:

Dear Glen:

We were honored to meet with you last Thursday and become better acquainted. The entire Board of Trustees was most impressed with your many accomplishments, your positive attitude and the unassuming manner in which you shared them with us. Your academic achievements at the University are indeed exceptional.

We are confident that you are a most deserving recipient of the Trustees scholarship. Not only for your excellence in the classroom, but your enthusiasm, positive attitude and character are attributes that will be of great importance to you in your career and throughout your life.

Please accept our congratulations on this distinct honor and achievement. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we extend our sincere best wishes to you for continuing success in all of your endeavors.

Warm regards,
Michael T Benson
President

So, in other words, Glen is the most amazing student that has ever stepped foot on SUU campus. At least, that's how I interpreted it....

New Addition to the Family!!

Hahahaha! I fooled you all! No, we are not expecting a baby... We bought a new TV. Our old set doesn't have the digital receiver so we decided to get a nice new one. Here she is:
It has a great picture! We have four more channels now and we can see almost all of them. Wii games look incredible on the screen. We opted for the more affordable Vizio and we are glad since it works great and we have a 3 year warranty. Anywho, if anyone wants to come over for movie night, you are more than welcome.

My Husband the Genius

Glen was told last week that he was chosen out of the whole music department as a nominee for the College of Performing and Visual Arts Board of Trustees Scholarship. This meant he was to go up against a nominee from each of the other schools in the CPVA, for example, someone from the theater department, dance department, etc. He had to make a powerpoint presentation and present himself in front of a panel of judges. His interview was yesterday and to no one's surprise, he won! So now he gets a scholarship on top of his other two scholarships and he will go up against the winner from each of the other colleges at SUU. He is so amazing and talented and amazingly talented. He teaches piano lessons to two girls from our ward and today I left my office door open so that I could listen. He is a wonderful, patient teacher! He is going to be the greatest dad! (Someday) I wish I had some talent I was so good at that someone paid me to do it and to get better at it... Oh well. I guess I will always have to pay for my schooling. Lame. Anyway, Glen is the most amazing person I know and I am so lucky to have him in my life!

Ode to Charlie

Charlie is my Yorkie that I love as if he were my child, because, well, he is. Lately he has been super naughty. I'm thinking mentally he is now a two year-old. He's almost been hit by a car twice because he doesn't listen to me anymore. We let him out and watch him and if he goes too far we yell for him to come back and it's like he's deaf. However, I love him! He is my baby. Here is a picture:
This picture was taken just after I finished blow drying his hair and he rubbed himself all over the carpet to get the clean smell off of him, so his hair is a little staticky (apparently not a word, but if it were, this is how it would be spelled...).

Valentines Day

Friday night we had friends over and watched a movie and then after they left, we stayed up late talking about our mission experiences. It was awesome. Then Saturday morning we slept in, laid around awhile, and then Glen went to get breakfast for us. He brought back more than just breakfast. He brought me beautiful tulips! We exchanged sappy Valentines Day cards and then we watched Return to Me (the best romantic comedy ever) while we ate. After the movie, we got dressed and headed to St. George. Who knew everyone else had the same idea. We went to the temple and noticed a few people decided to get married that day. Personally, I think when you have two important things happening on one day, you lose the significance of the less important day. For instance, Valentine's Day won't really matter to these people anymore because it has become their anniversary. They get one special day for the price of two. It's just too bad. Anyway, we were too late for the next session so we did sealings. It was wonderful to be able to be reminded of the words of the temple sealing. It was a great experience. Then we decided to head over to the St. George tabernacle since neither of us had been there before. No one else was there except the missionary couple who gives the tours. Sister John asked us if we wanted a tour and we gladly accepted. It was a magnificent building full of history, but the best part about the tour was that I told Sister John at the end that Glen is an organist and she insisted he play something. As soon as he started playing, Elder John walked closer to the organ and took a seat in the audience. When Glen finished, Elder John requested an encore. He wouldn't let us leave without it, so Glen obliged. A new group of people entered and Elder John started another tour. Sister John took Glen's name and number so that she could find out if it would be okay for Glen to do his senior recital at the tabernacle. As we were walking out the door and down the stair, Elder John came running after us and said, "Thank you for coming. Thank you, thank you." I was touched.... even though I had nothing to do with anything.
By then we were hungry and looking forward to Olive Garden since we miss italian food. We got there and there were about 20 people waiting outside. Glen went to see how long the wait was and they said close to two hours. Ridiculous! So we headed down the road and everywhere was the same. We decided on Chuck a Rama since you don't have to wait for a waiter or your food. It was a good choice. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes. We came home and Glen graciously let me take a nap while he took care of a few things on the computer. Afterward, we went to the grocery store(very exciting, I know) but then we snuggled on the couch and watched The Mummy Returns (another one of MY favorites, he's so good to me). Glen was suffering from a minor cold the whole day so he couldn't keep his eyes open. I told him we had to go to bed about 20 minutes into the movie. But he made a good effort. All in all it was the best Valentines Day ever! (although the day my step-dad adopted us is a close second, well, I guess that is just it's own really special Valentines Day.) I am so grateful to a wonderful husband that made sure the day was special for me. He really didn't care about how special it was for him, but I think the whole tabernacle experience was pretty good. I love you dearly Glen!
