Weight Loss

It's that time of year again. No, not the New Year's Resolutions so much as preparing to get in a bathing suit for Mexico. I have no problem getting in a bathing suit now, it's just that in Mexico, every family member has a camera and is trying to capture precious memories. After looking back at last year's precious memories, I have come to the conclusion that I need to get in better shape. We leave on the first Sunday in June so I have roughly four more months.
I would like to say at this point that I am at my pre-pregnancy weight. However, two months before I found out I was pregnant with George, I started training for a triathlon. I was running and swimming every day. (I didn't have a bike but I was going to borrow one.) I lost 20 lbs in the process. Then during my first trimester everything started to hurt so I reluctantly gave up my dream. So, I am at my pre-pre-pregnancy weight. I weigh as much as I did before I lost the 20 lbs before I got pregnant. Which is still 14 lbs less than what I weighed when I started this endeavor this year. So, I plan to lose another 20 lbs to get to my real pre-pregnancy weight and then another 10-15 lbs after that. I know this means nothing to the majority of you but for me, putting this out there will hopefully give me more motivation. Although, the last time I made it public that I was working on losing weight, my diet failed shortly thereafter. But not this time! This time I have Glen on my side which makes a world of difference.

Utah

George and I headed up to Utah with my mom last Wednesday through the weekend. It was great to get the chance to work in the office and meet all of the new people there. I also got to spend time with my good friend Jenny and her little girls.George, Hayley, and Brooklyn

Jenny and Chelsea at Olive Garden

The reason I went was to attend the reception of my trainer on the mission, Hermana England. Lindsea and Travis Volle

She will always have a special place in my heart for the kindness she showed and the patience with which she taught me. I thought George needed to look snazzy for the reception so I bought him a tie. Unfortunately, it was red and unbeknownst to me, all of the little boys in her family were also in red ties.... Ooops! This was after the reception... He was ready for bedtime.
Grandmas make everything better!
It was so nice to see some of my friends from the mission that I haven't seen in a long time. I hadn't seen my trainer, now Lindsea Volle, since Argentina!

Sledding!!

This weekend we went to Pinetop, AZ for some time in the snow. We were invited by my brother Keaton to use his time share. Well, actually, my brother Taylor and his family were invited and my mom invited herself and us. Luckily, Taylor loves us and let us go. It was a three bedroom condo with a murphy bed so everyone was comfortable. It was huge and awesome! And George got to really experience the snow for the first time. He has been in the snow but he hasn't really ever touched it or, you know, sped down it at increasingly alarming rates on a sled (videos to come).
We spent the weekend playing games, laughing, making fun of everyone on "Say Yes to the Dress" and playing in the snow. Playing "Left, Right, Center"

It was Glen's job to carry the baby up the hill and I carried the sled. This was Glen resting after climbing a particularly steep hill.

The Stats

This is for posterity. I know my few readers really don't care how big George's head is. But it's nice to have this info recorded somewhere (I also write it in his journal).

Weight: 20 lbs 4 oz (46th percentile)
Height: 28 inches (45th? percentile)
Head: Not sure but I know he's in the 66th percentile

Average, average, average. He's started dancing lately, which is hilarious! Watch the first 15 seconds of this video:

Quilt #2

This is a quilt I made my little sister for her baby that is due in March. I made it a few months ago but I didn't want her to see it until I gave it to her in person.
The back is a red version of the white polka dot fabric. It turned out much better than the one I made George...

9 Months

Baby George is nine months today! He is walking from one piece of furniture to the next and he can stand forever. He is starting to get more interested in it. He is learning to make new sounds and talks all the time. I won't have his measurements until later this week after the doctor. It's crazy how different babies are. I remember being so worried when George was four months and not rolling over and now he is walking! Just goes to show that baby books do not apply to all babies. All kids develop differently.

Christmas was awesome! We brought George down early in the morning to see what Santa brought. He was pretty excited to see all of his new toys! We all got new bluray movies to watch and Wii games to play. That sums up most of the past week: movies and video games. We did go see True Grit on Christmas Day. It was great! It has been really nice to have Glen home to play with George while I work. It might be time to find someone to watch him for a few hours a day.

New Year's Eve was also a good time. We went to my parents' for dinner and then lit fireworks. Arizona just made fireworks legal this year. This has not stopped my brother in the past, but it was nice to know we weren't breaking any laws. George loved the fireworks. He just grunted the whole time. The first one was a bit scary but then he figured out that they weren't going to hurt him. It was pretty cold, but luckily George had received warm clothes from Aunt Marie for Christmas.

Then we played Scattergories with my parents and my brother's family. It was really fun! My family is hilarious. We went home around ten and I stayed up until midnight playing Donkey Kong while Glen tried, unsuccessfully, to stay up with me. All in all it was a wonderful holiday season and I am sad to see another one go so quickly.

By the way, my parents got us all a trip to Mexico for Christmas again this year. I can't wait! George will love it! He will learn so many things such as Sand Eating 101 and Professional Ghost Crab Hunting! But we have to wait until May (which is for the best since I need to get in shape...)
