My mother introduced me to this novel. It is fantastic! It is set during the 1960's and is all about the black maids employed in Jackson, Mississippi. It is a national bestseller and they are making a movie to be released this August. It is shocking to think this was happening just 50 years ago. I find it hard to fathom that a group of people really thought themselves higher than others just because of where and to whom they were born (and many from all races and nationalities still do). Anyway, I read it in a very short amount of time because I simply could not put it down. I suggest it to any and all who enjoy a little historical fiction. You will love it!

Wow I feel so in the loop I read this book about a year ago--It was one I couldn't put down also!! I am actually really excited to see the movie!! It has an amazing cast!! Im glad you enjoyed it as much as I did!!
